About

I believe in Infant Salvation. I have to.

Simon and Jude, 2001

My son Jude Leonard Smith came into this world on February 11, 1999 while listening to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.

His life was a symphony of laughter and joy every day thereafter and he was the composer of some of our finest memories.

He was listening again to Vivaldi as he went to be with our Lord at 2:20 pm Thursday, April 12, 2001.

He was two years, two months, and one day old.

While it would be unfair to say that my faith was shattered, it is, at times, shaken.

Before my son died I felt that Infant Salvation was a slippery slope. Those concerns did not magically go away after my son died.

I tried to think out loud with family, friends and a few pastors, but the conversation quickly turned into confrontation.

So welcome to Saint Depraved.

This is me trying to work out a (fundamental) theology of Infant Salvation. This is me testing hope.

Simon L Smith, 2010

I am doing this for me, but it is my sincere prayer that it may be useful to others who have the same concerns about Infant Salvation that I have.

If that is you, may God grant you a peace that truly passes even your own understanding. And may you rest in the hope that you will see your child again.

Unless plans change the next topic of discussion will be doubt.

“I use to hear it everyday. ‘”God gave you the gift of faith.”‘ But now I know what it’s about. Since Death gave me the gift of doubt.”
